ValleyPalooza Completes Home Rebuild for Family
ValleyPalooza celebrated this great accomplishment this month at the dedication and open house for the Hilderbrand Family.  After a few setbacks, including a devastating fire, ValleyPalooza Organization, contractors & many volunteers have managed to provide a new home for the family, making their dream become a reality. It's because of the support of the community and donors like you that we were able to do this for Gail Hilderbrand and her family.

ST. LOUIS (May 22, 2014) —St. Louis-based furniture store, Weekends Only Furniture Outlet has partnered with the ValleyPalooza Organization to help turn a family’s hope for one day living in their dream home, into a reality. The Hilderbrand's move-in date is set for the weekend of May 30th, with an unveiling sure to make this the best three days for three very special residents of the Valley Park neighborhood.

In a few short weeks, Gail Hilderbrand, her son Jason and her elderly mother will move into their newly re-built home, custom-designed with comfort in mind for Jason’s special needs. After three long years and two attempts at a renovation, Gail and her family will be receiving a homecoming complete with gifts poured out from friends, neighbors, countless volunteers from ValleyPalooza, and the helping hands of the home furnishings experts at Weekends Only.

“My heart was so deeply touched after reading about the Hilderbrand family and their urgent need for help, we made a decision to donate a houseful of furniture,” said Tom Phillips, Chief Executive Officer, Weekends Only. “It has taken a while to get to this point because everything had to be re-done, but the wait is nearly over. With the help of everyone involved, it will all come together soon.”

Hilderbrand and her young adult son, Jason, who has severe cerebral palsy, have suffered setbacks over the past three years. Vandals set fire to their home a year-and-a half ago after the initial renovation was nearly complete. The full scale re-build of the Hildebrand home today is designed to finally give the family a better quality of life.

ValleyPalooza Music Festival,  Saturday, September 17th, will benefit the families devastated by the fires on September 14th.  The ValleyPalooza Organization and the residents of Valley Park will continue their efforts Saturday, September 17th at the ValleyPalooza Music Festival to assist those families left homeless by last weeks fire in the 600 block of Benton Street in Valley Park

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost their homes, belongings and loved pets.  In a “tight-knit” community such as Valley Park we all share the heartbreak this tragedy brings. The ValleyPalooza Organization has found itself on the receiving end of hundreds of calls from residents, businesses and other organizations to make a personal donation; others called to express their interest in volunteering.   Through our “Neighbors in Need” program, a greater part of the funds raised from this year’s music festival will be used to assist those families affected by this disaster.  The remainder of the proceeds will be used to honor our commitment to provide scholarships to the children of ourlocal school district through our “Soaring with Service” scholarship fund as well as the other families we have committed to helping before this disaster.

ValleyPalooza Grills Hot Dogs for Hunger

ValleyPalooza Organization teams up with the City of Valley Park to invite you to relish the view of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile!   In celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, Valley Park was chosen as one of only 75 lucky communities who won bun-filled visits from the legendary dog itself. ValleyPalooza Organization wrote in several bunderfulletters stating why they think Valley Park is such a great town.

Valley Park was selected as one of the cities that were narrowed down to be voted on by Oscar Mayer Facebook Fans. It was game on from there…The ValleyPalooza Members fought long and hard for this visit to Valley Park by logging on to the Oscar Mayer Facebook page and voting every day and hot dog….ValleyPalooza handed out some tough competition to show who the Top-Dogs were.

As part of our ongoing community efforts, ValleyPalooza will be grilling FREE hot dogs and providing drinks to the first 300 people that bring two (2) canned food items or dry goods to the Wienermobile that day!  All food donations will be donated to our local food pantry "Circle of Concern" to help those in need.

Volunteers & businesses along with the ValleyPalooza Organization began the process of updating Gail Hilderbrand's home.  Since 2010, new windows have been installed, courtesy of Window World & St. Vincent De Paul.  A new furnace has been keeping the family warm thanks to Advantage Heating & Air from located in Valley Park.  ValleyPalooza has provided window a/c units to keep Gail and her family cool during those hot summer days until Advantage Air installs the new central air conditioning system once the remodel is complete.  "Progress has been slower than we would like, but we want to make sure we do it the right way and not just the fastest way," said Jenn Vanelli, Executive Director of ValleyPalooza. "There are alot of generous contractors, businesses and volunteers donating their time and professional services on this project, so we need to be considerate of their schedules as well."  In June, the Professional Gutters Company, along with the help of several volunteers installed new soffits and gutters.  They also replaced the lumber on the front of the home and prepped it for new siding.  The siding will be installed immediately following completion of the home addition. The home additional will include two new bedrooms and a handicapped accessible bathroom on the main floor of the house.  If you would like to volunteer your time or services, please call 314-581-5720 or email:

Valley Park Students Receive First Ever  "Soaring with Service" Scholarship Awards
Summer Break 2011 will be unforgettable for a select group of Valley Park students. Script-writing and directing; creating sculptures and exploring the world of veterinary medicine are samplings of the unique experiences awaiting the first-ever“Soaring with Service” Award-winners.

The “Soaring with Service” Award, a charitable scholarship fund, was established through ValleyPalooza. ValleyPalooza matches the total amount of money raised each year.

She applauded Vanelli and O’Brien for sponsoring the program. ValleyPalooza Music Festival Helps a Local Family
In early 2010, ValleyPalooza Organization received a referral from Lionel Hall, a local resident for his "Neighbor in Need," Gail Hilderbrand and her family.  Gail is a single mom, raising a severely disabled son, while working full time and caring for her elderly mother.  Over the years, her house has been ravaged by floods and neglect.  Gail has slept on the couch for many years to be near her son because of his medical needs. Gail's home had no heating or cooling and was in need of major repairs. Gail Hilderbrand and her family, after much consideration, were chosen to be the 2010 music festival beneficiaries.

The music festival was held on September 18, 2010.  It was even more successful than the previous year. Plans are to provide heating and cooling, new windows, new roof and siding for the Hilderbrand home.  The existing structure will be remodeled to include 2 new bedrooms, a handicapped-accessible bathroom and an updated kitchen.

Lionel, who has watched the Hilderbrand family struggle for years, is relieved that his neighbor is finally receiving the much needed assistance. At the music festival, he volunteered with the American Legion serving soda and also marched in the parade.  "I feel real good to see people pull together," he said.
